The first activity of the business delegation was a networking lunch organized by the Belgian Chamber of Commerce for Southern Africa in Cape Town, Wallonia Export & Investment Agency, hub.brussels and Flanders Investment & Trade (FIT).

In the afternoon, the royal delegation had the pleasure to visit the Afrigen Biologics (Pty) Ltd laboratory. This visit highlighted the collaboration of Afrigen with UNIVERCELLS S.A., represented by its co-founder Jose Castillo, and eTheRNA for developing the first mRNA vaccine produced in Africa for Africa.

Then, HE Elio Di Rupo and Pascale Delcomminette visited the BCL Medical Waste Management & Ripets plant. This visit was hosted by Brian Scott, CEO of BCL Medical Waste, and was the occasion to show the partnership between Ecosteryl, represented by its President Olivier Dufrasne, and BCL Medical Waste.

The day ended with a business networking event, hosted by the VBO FEB and its CEO Pieter Timmermans. It was the occasion to explore new avenues for economic cooperation between business leaders from Belgium and South Africa.
